Veterans Will Be Honored in USCIS Veterans’ Day Naturalization Ceremonies

This week, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be sponsoring nearly 40 naturalization ceremonies nationwide, and people with a history of serving in the military (as well as their spouses) will be honored during these Veterans’ Day naturalization ceremonies. According to the USCIS press release regarding these ongoing naturalization ceremonies, more than 3,000 people are expected to be welcomed as new American citizens after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

As USCIS Director León Rodríguez has stated regarding these ceremonies:

On Veterans Day, we honor the men and women who have pledged to defend our nation, as we cherish the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices of our service members, and their families… today, we honor those who pledged to defend our nation before they were even citizens of our nation.

Highlights of the USCIS Veterans’ Day Naturalization Ceremonies

While there are various events planned throughout the U.S. during this week of USCIS Veterans’ Day naturalization ceremonies, here are some of the notable plans for these events:

• On November 10^th, which marks the 239^th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps., a special naturalization ceremony will take place at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. (which is based on Triangle, Virginia).
• Also on November 10^th, a special naturalization ceremony will be held at the Everglades National Park (in Homestead, Florida).
• On Veterans’ Day, another special naturalization ceremony will be held at the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
• This week, five military recruits will be granted U.S. citizenship as part of the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative, a relative new program that permits members of the military to initiate and complete the naturalization process as they go through basic training.

As the various USCIS Veterans’ Day naturalization ceremonies throughout the U.S. are held this week, USCIS officials are encouraging new citizens and their families to share their experiences and feelings through social media.
